Bobby Herrington 2011 Season in Review; Early Season Win Highlights Light Schedule for Herrington

By Craig Revelle - October 31st, 2011

The 2011 racing season was filled with ups and downs for Bobby Herrington and his Elginburg, Ontario bases Herrington Motorsports team.  While they did grab a feature win early in the season, and looked ready to contend for the 2011 Brockville championship, mid-season bad luck and inconsistent finishes set the team back.

At the start of the season, Herrington ran well.  In fact, during the first ten events of the year, he had top ten finishes in all ten races, including six top fives, and a win.  Back to Back early race DNF's in August took him out of contention for a top three finish in points, but he did rebound to score a top five in the final points race of the season.

A few weeks later the Brockville Speedway hosted their annual DIRTcar Fall Northeast Nationals.  Herrington had hoped to score home track advantage against the bigger traveling teams.  After just making the show through the consi, Herrington started from far back in the field, and got caught up in a wreck sending Herrington's Bicknell car upside down.  It was not the way they wanted to end the season.

Plans for the 2012 season have not yet been finalized for the Herrington Motorsports team.  Stay tuned to the website throughout the off-season for the latest news.

Herrington Returns to Form With Top Five Finish at Brockville Speedway

By Craig Revelle - September 5, 2011

After a couple of frustrating weeks at the BOS that led to early exits, Bobby Herrington was looking forward to getting back on track this week, and end the 2011 regular season on a good note at Brockville.

The night started out well for Herrington, starting up front and leading every lap of his qualifying heat.  While the car was good, the Herrington Motorsports team still had to make some adjustments to the car to keep up with the ever-changing track conditions at Brockville.  Herrington started the 30 lap main event from outside the second row in the fourth position.  With seven laps in Herrington was up to second place.  The field regrouped for a lap seven restart and Herrington got a great re-start, and took the lead.  He held the top spot through lap nine, but just as he took the lead on an earlier restart, he lost the lead in the same fashion, and dropped back to fifth before the checkered flag.

"The car ran well at the start of the race, it was probably the best that it has been all season on the bottom of the track", recalls Herrington.  "Anytime we can get a top five finish with the field of cars that they get at Brockville is pretty good, so I guess we can be happy with that".

The 2011 season at Brockville is now over until the Northeast Fall Nationals in October.  The schedule for the Herrington Motorsports team is still unclear at this time and we invite you to keep checking back for up to date schedule information.

Herrington Makes Early Exit at Brockville For the Second Week in a Row

By Craig Revelle - August 29, 2011

With no Modifieds on the schedule at Brockville last weekend, Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team were looking forward to getting back to the track this past weekend.  With just two races remaining going into the weekend, Herrington was hoping to finish out the year on a good note, and remain in the top five in points at Brockville.

In his qualifying heat race, Herrington started from third, but slid to fourth at the checkered flag.  After the race, Herrington and the team made some adjustments to the car looking to get their 2010 Bicknell car handling better for the 30 lap main event.  Herrington started the feature from inside of row four in the seventh position.  By lap four he was up to fourth place, but one lap later Herrington was forced to the pits with front end damage and did not return.

Despite the damage, Herrington remains fifth in points at Brockville.  The final night of points is coming up this coming Saturday night, and Herrington hopes to end the year on a good note.

"We have had some bad luck the last two races here, and hopefully we can finish out the year here with a good finish", says Herrington.

The schedule for Herrington for the rest of the 2011 season is still up in the air at this time.  They will be back at Brockville this coming Saturday night.  Stay tuned to herringtonmotorsports.com for upcoming events.

Tough Night at the BOS for Herrington Motorsports

By Craig Revelle - August 15, 2011

After a couple of really strong top five finishes at Brockville the last two weeks, Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team were hoping to build on that and get back to Victory Lane at the BOS.

The night began with qualifying heats and Herrington started from the fourth position and finished second.  In the 30 lap main event, Herrington rolled off the starting grid from outside of the fourth row in eighth place.  At the drop of the green flag Herrington made one lap before contact with another car caused front end damage on Herrington's Bicknell, ending their night early.

This coming weekend the Modified division has the week off at Brockville so Bobby and the Herrington Motorsports team will take the week off and regroup and will return the following week for the final stretch of the 2011 season.

Herrington Scores Another Top Five Finish at Brockville Speedway

By Craig Revelle - August 8, 2011

After enjoying a rare mid season break last week, as Brockville did not have the Modifieds on the schedule, Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team were anxious to get back to the track and build on their top five finish of the previous week.

With a third place start in his qualifying heat, Herrington was looking to start the night off with a win in the preliminary event.  He advanced to second place, and maintained that spot for the duration.  In the 30 lap main event for the 358 Modifieds, Herrington lined up from outside of the third row in the sixth position.  The first caution came after just two laps, and he was now in the fourth position, and by lap seven he had made the pass for the lead.  Herrington held the top spot for the next several laps, racing side by side as the race approached halfway.  At the checkered flag, he crossed the line in fourth place.

"It was pretty fast early in the race, but we just got too tight at the end", describes Herrington.  "It was fun racing side by side like that.  We hoped to finish a little higher, but all in all it was a good night".

Herrington currently sits fifth in track points at Brockville, and will return to the fast 3/8ths of a mile track this coming Saturday night, looking for his second win of the 2011 season.

Herrington Gets Back on Track With Top Five Finish at Brockville Speedway

By Craig Revelle - July 26, 2011

The last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle for Bobby Herrington after a very solid string of strong finishes to start the season.  Herrington was hoping that the changes they made to the car during the week would pay off, and they could get back to the consistency they had built earlier in the year.

Like most weekends Herrington Motorsports, and driver Bobby Herrington had just the one race on the schedule.  They left their Elginburg, Ontario home late Saturday afternoon and made the trip east to the Brockville Ontario Speedway.  Herrington entered the night fifth on overall track points in the 358 Modified division.  The night began with qualifying heats and Herrington started from the outside of the front row.  He jumped to the early lead and cruised to victory.

As the 30 lap Modified feature rolled onto the track, dark rain clouds moved into the area. After just two laps of racing, a little light rain began to fall, and Brockville track officials sent teams to the pit area.  Many race teams put the cars on the trailer thinking the night was over, but after a few short minutes, the call was made to restart the race.  Herrington started the race in fourth place, and when they resumed from the brief rain delay he was up to second.  He took the lead shortly after the race resumed and held the top spot for several laps before falling back to fourth at the checkered flag.

"The car was pretty good.  We made some changes to the car during the week and replaced the torsion bars.  In hindsight, we probably should have done that a few weeks ago when we started to struggle.  It really made a big difference and the car was a lot better tonight", says Herrington.

This coming week, Brockville does not have the 358 Modifieds on the schedule, so Herrington may take the week off from racing.  They will return the following week, August 6th to Brockville Speedway.

Disappointing Night  at the BOS for Herrington Motorsports

By Craig Revelle - July 18, 2011

After putting together a good run of four straight top five finishes at Brockville dating back to his win on May 28th, Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team have struggled a little, still finishing inside the top ten, but lacking the consistency they have shown earlier in the year.  Herrington was looking to get back to the front this past weekend with another visit to the Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday night.

Herrington started his qualifying heat race at Brockville from the fifth position and struggled early.  The team made several adjustments to the car before the 30 lap feature, hoping to get the right set up under his 2010 Bicknell.  The 20 year old Elginburg, Ontario racer started the main event from the eighth position.  Herrington maintained that position through the first 17 laps of race before getting loose in the second corner and spinning.  Herrington rejoined the tail of the field for the restart, and climbed back up to eighth at the checkered flag.

This coming weekend, Herrington will be back at Brockville, hoping to return to early season form and get back to victory lane.  Herrington remains in fifth place in overall track points at Brockville after eight events.

Herrington Continues Consistent Season at the BOS in 2011 Season

By Craig Revelle - July 5, 2011

Going into this past weekend, Bobby Herrington was on a roll at the BOS, posting four consecutive top five finishes including his a win during the second week of the season.  He was third place in points at the track and was hoping to continue that consistency and perhaps get back to victory lane.

Qualifying heats were the first event of the night, and Herrington started from the sixth position.  At halfway, Herrington had moved into third place, and maintained that spot through the duration of the race.  After the heats had been competed, Herrington and his Elginburg, Ontario team went to work on chassis adjustments, hoping to get the car dialed in for the 30 lap main event.  Herrington started the feature from outside the fourth row in eighth place.  Just a few laps into the race he had climbed to fourth, and was looking for more.  At halfway, Herrington was still in fourth, but in the closing laps he slipped out of the top five and crossed the finish line in sixth.

This coming week, Herrington will be back at Brockville again, hoping to get back to the front of the pack and challenge for his second win of the 2011 racing season.

Herrington Posts Fourth Consecutive Top Five Finish at Brockville Speedway

By Craig Revelle - June 28, 2011

Despite a gloomy Saturday forecast, racing continued at the Brockville Ontario Speedway, and Elginburg, Ontario racer Bobby Herrington was looking to get back to victory lane.  Herrington has been on a roll as of late, posting three consecutive top five finishes at the BOS, including a win just three weeks ago.

At Brockville, qualifying heats were up first for Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team.  He lined up outside of the third row in his heat race in the sixth position.  At the checkered flag, Herrington crossed the finish line in fifth. After the heat race, Herrington reported back to the pit area, and changes were made on the car in preparation for the 30 lap feature.

Herrington rolled off the starting grid from the 10th position for the main event, and by lap ten he was battling for a top five spot.  Throughout the duration of the event, Herrington continued to move forward, and finished the race in fourth place.

"It was another consistent top five finish for us again tonight", says Herrington.  "I wish we could have been a little better and contend with Danny (O'Brien) and Stephane (Lafrance), but overall I am happy with our run tonight, and we will continue to work hard and get back to victory lane".

Bobby Herrington and the Herrington Motorsports team will return to the Brockville Ontario Speedway this coming Saturday night looking to continue their streak of top five finishes, and get back to victory lane.  After five races in 2011 at Brockville, Herrington currently sits fourth in overall track points in the chase for the 2011 358 Modified Brockville Speedway track championship.

Herrington Scores Fifth Place Finish For the Second Week in a Row at the BOS

By Craig Revelle - June 21, 2011

Bobby Herrington entered the Brockville Speedway on Saturday night with a lot on the line.  The night was a special double laps, double purse, and more importantly double points.  A good run on this night could go a long way in the battle for the Brockville championship.  On the other end of the spectrum, a bad run could give a team's hope for a championship a serious blow.  Herrington was hoping that his early season consistency would continue.

In the 10 lap qualifying heat, Herrington started third, and kept the same position throughout the race.  After arriving back into the pit area, Herrington and the team made some adjustments to the car, hoping to get a little faster before the start of the 60 lap main event.  Herrington started in 10th place in feature, rolling off the starting grid from outside of the fifth row.  The first yellow of the race came on lap two, and he was now up to the 12th position.  By lap 12, Herrington was in the top ten, and continued to work his way towards the front.  At lap 20, Herrington was sixth and began to challenge for a top five spot.  At halfway, he was up into the top five, and maintained that fifth place spot for the remainder of the event.

"We were pretty good early in the race, but the handle started to go away on us.  "We will take the fifth place finish, and try and do a little better next weekend".

Herrington will be back at Brockville this coming Saturday night looking to get back to victory lane.

Herrington Scores Top 5 Finish at the BOS

By Craig Revelle - June 7, 2011

Fresh of his win just one week ago, Bobby Herrington was looking to return to the BOS on Saturday night and duplicate the dominating performance.  Herrington left his Elginburg, Ontario home Saturday afternoon and focused on another solid finish.

Once the Herrington Motorsports team arrived at Brockville, the first order of business was the qualifying heats.  Herrington started in fifth place and at the checkered flag he advanced to fourth.  For the 30 lap feature, Herrington lined up from inside the fifth row in the ninth position.  The first caution of the night came at lap three and Herrington was now up to seventh.  By halfway, Herrington was into the top five.  At checkered flag, Herrington scored his second straight top five finish at Brockville.

"We had a decent car tonight", says Herrington.  We are off to a good start here this year, and hopefully we can build on that through the year".

Herrington will be back at Brockville Speedway this coming Saturday night looking to build on the recent momentum through the month of June.  Please visit the Brockville Speedway website at www.brockvillespeedway.com and vote Bobby Herrington into the Double Dash for Cash on June 18th.

Herrington Finished 8th at Brockville Speedway Opener;

By Craig Revelle - May 24, 2011

After rain postponed the Brockville Ontario Speedway season opener last week, they were finally able to get the season started this week despite the rain that fell all week long.  Bobby Herrington was finally able to get back on track, hoping to improve on his 2nd place finish from Can Am just two weeks earlier.

After staring on the front row, Herrington battle the rough track conditions and fought his way to a 3rd place finish in his qualifying heat race.  Once Herrington got back to his pit area they made some adjustment to the car, hoping it would be just what they needed for the 30 lap main event.  With the 3rd place finish in the second heat, Herrington started the feature from the outside of the fourth row in position number 8.  The track conditions were less then ideal due to all the rain we have been having, and a big hole in the middle of turn one and two developed and progressively got worse as the race went on.  At the end of the night, Herrington crossed the finish line in 8th place.

"We were looking for a much better finish then that to start the season here", says Herrington.  "The track was just so rough, and it was hard to pass anyone.  Hopefully we can get some dry weather here this week and dry things up".

Herrington will be back at Brockville Speedway this coming Saturday night looking to gain some momentum heading into June.  Please visit the Brockville Speedway website at www.brockvillespeedway.com and vote Bobby Herrington into the Double Dash for Cash on June 18th.
